Potential impact and benefits
Liveline contributes to the safety of vulnerable people and to the reduction of anxiety in families. Liveline wants to define a number of standard practices for the implementation of security in location based services. Security will increase confidence in potential user communities. A better understanding of user requirements, based on knowledge of user concerns, expectations, rights and obligations, will lead to standard practices that can be adopted by location based service providers.
The project wants to contribute to the public debate concerning IT privacy in general and location privacy in particular. The goal is to prevent prejudices against location based services by setting good examples for sound practices in an interdisciplinary cooperation with the human sciences sector. A balanced consensus must be found between the need for protection on the one hand and the concern for privacy on the other hand.
The reduction of uncertainty and anxiety should contribute to a sound society atmosphere for the breeding of young people and should bring tranquillity of mind for persons who take care of their elderly parents.
